How Shan Slays: A Friday Special
Hooray it’s Friday!
This weekend, I’m planning to shop and cook up another round of recipes to share with you over the next few weeks. I thought I would do something fun and share a few of my favorite items to use in the kitchen! These are the ones that immediately came to my mind. Thus, how I am able to slay in the kitchen.
I get a little help from some of these friends…
- KitchenAid Stand Mixer
- Pyrex Measuring Cups
- Funky and fun measuring spoons
- Rice Cooker
- Cutting board with foldable edges
Hands down, the KitchenAid mixer is my favorite big girl kitchen toy. I received it about five years ago as a surprise Christmas gift from my family and it has been a game changer for mixing virtually anything. I have the 5 quart KitchenAid mixer in a bright cherry red color but you can buy it in any color or even pattern! It is pricey but I have been able to find good deals on these stand mixers quite often throughout the year. Target sometimes runs gift card deals and some websites selling all sorts of cookware will feature sales. Just have to keep an eye out!
I remember creating my wedding registry and asking one of my college professors (we were talking about my upcoming wedding at the time) what I needed to add onto my list. She told me that I really needed to get a set of these measuring cups. She was totally right. I use these CONSTANTLY. They are microwaveable so I have heated butter in them. I have four different sizes and they nest together well in my cabinet. If I need eight cups of water, I can automatically fill the largest cup that holds 8 cups. No more counting and make trips to and from the sink!
I received these ADORABLE measuring spoons in a fun Valentine/birthday box from Mrs. Teresa when I was in college. Not only do the colors match my fiesta-themed kitchen but they are 2 sided! I love that! I like to think they were created this way for the purpose of measuring spices on one side and then taste testing with the other side. Well, at least that’s what I convinced myself!
Next is my trusty rice cooker. I talked about this earlier in the week but it makes so much more than just rice. I have cooked quinoa in the rice cooker (using the white rice setting) and steamed vegetables. The bowl is very easy to clean out and I love that I’m not stuck with such a mess!
This is another special treat I received from Mrs. Teresa. This cutting board is perfect for when I’m cutting smaller quantities of fruits or veggies. I’m notorious for spilling so the foldable sides have been wonderful for ensuring all of the food makes it into the pan. #clumsycookproblems
Today was rather short and sweet but I’ve got some fun things in store for you. I really appreciate those who have encouraged me throughout this process. I’m learning something new everyday about blogging. It’s not easy but I love sharing my love for cooking and creating with you.
Thanks for stopping by!
