What’s Up Wednesday June 2018

What’s Up Wednesday June 2018

Happy Wednesday everyone!

It’s time for What’s Up Wednesday with Mel, Sheaffer, and Shay! Can you believe it’s the last week of June? Hard to believe!!

What I’m eating this week…well since our house is literally upside down, I’m thinking lots of easy meals or having Shay grill. Planning can’t really happen right now! Yesterday, I posted about my latest haul from Trader Joe’s.

What I’m reminiscing about…my high school reunion earlier this month! It was so good to see my high school peeps!

What I’m loving…being off work for several weeks! The spiritual and mental respite has been good for my soul!

What I’ve been up to…striping wallpaper, knocking down wood paneling, sweeping, picking out paint colors, typical remodeling tasks! I would like to point out that demo day was on the birth day of Chip and Joanna’s new son!

What I’m dreading…the bills for our remodeling! And possibly our AC going out on us AGAIN! Thankfully, the last three times have been simple fixes. Replacing the unit is in our future. It’s a matter of when y’all. I love being a homeowner… I love being a homeowner…

What I’m working on…making my way through the Summer Bucket List! I have made pizza on the grill so far, been reading some books, and have tried eat vegan this whole month. It’s been a challenge!

What I’m watching…food documentaries and odds and ends on Netflix. Shay and I have been going to the movies and have seen the Han Solo movie and the new Avengers movie. Sunday, we went to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 3D. A friend and I went to see The Incredibles 2 which was super cute. For those of you who have seen The Incredibles 2, what were your thoughts about the short film before? It was…interesting…

Also in the land of Youtube, I have been binge-watching videos from “It’s a Southern Thing.” Here’s their latest video and it’s so entertaining! My family is Team Whataburger but I do love Chick-Fila-A too!

What I’m reading… I just finished Freefall to Fly by Rebekah Lyons and have been working my way through The Food Babe Way by Vani Hari.

I’m proud to announce that I went to the library last week and checked out three books! Many of the popular books that you all have recommended have a hold on them. Since I’m too cheap to buy, I have to wait until they are checked back in. I finished one of my checked out books, The Marriage Pact. Oh my goodness. I couldn’t put the book down. Once the summer ends, I’m going to do a more comprehensive book review for all of my reads.

What I’m listening to…Shay and I like to listen to country music as we work. Sometimes, he’ll put on his music which are various forms of alternative music.

What I’m wearing…lots of Nike mesh shorts and t-shirts. Something that can tolerate the heat, paint, and remodeling activities! I haven’t worn much make-up either. But for special occasions such as dinner out or a birthday party, I’ve been wearing those white pants with wedges/sandals and a cute top!

What I’m doing this weekend…Shay and I are attending a family member’s wedding and then probably more demo activities will be taking place. Bye bye popcorn ceiling, wood paneling, and mauve carpet! It’s time to give our living room a facelift 🙂

What I’m looking forward to next month…Shay’s birthday and hopefully lots of progress on the living room!

That about wraps up this month’s What’s Up Wednesday! See y’all tomorrow!

Give me all the shiplap (Kidding!)

    • It was really hard to put down! I have the Wife Between Us and one of your other reads on hold at the library! Can’t wait until they’re available for pick up!

  • You guys will be so rewarded by your hard work! I wish I was good at projects. Do you have a veggie basket for your grill? I think you would love it but you can also use heavy duty foil. That’s funny that you started on baby Crew’s birthday. I might try The Marriage Pact.
    Have a great day!

    • Thank you! It’s a slow but steady process. We do have a veggie basket from BBB and Shay will use heavy duty foil for things like potatoes or onions. He likes to wrap up a whole onion and put butter in it. Have a great one Amy!

  • Hooray for a trip to the library! I always have to wait for the holds too. Can’t wait to see all of your renovation progress – hard work but it will be SO worth it!

  • I’m so happy for you that you’ve enjoyed your time off! That’s so wonderful! Wishing you all the best with the remodel! Glad to hear you thought Incredibles 2 was super cute! We’re looking forward to seeing it! Enjoy the second half of your week! 🙂

    • Thank you!! I just read your recap and the cheeseburger pods reminded me of the dumplings/pods (not sure what they are??) they made in the short film prior to Incredibles 2!! Have a great one Brenda 🙂

  • Ok your pizzas ust get better – now you are GRILLING them? You are the cool pizza queen. I’m glad you mentioned the Incredibles – I noticed a few people had mentioned they’d been to see it but didn’t put any feedback on saying it was good which got me wondering – was it a bit odd or something?

    • Haha I guess I should correctly say that I “smoked” them as they were made on a smoker. The movie itself was funny and entertaining! The only thing I would warn folks about (which the theaters here are doing) are the scenes with flashing lights which can trigger epilepsy if you’re photosensitive. The short film that comes on before the show (about a 10 minute flick) had some people scratching their heads. I liked it but there was one part in there where I was like, oh wow, that was unexpected! Still, I encourage you and Caspar to go see the film!
