What’s Up Wednesday October 2018

What’s Up Wednesday October 2018

Happy Wednesday everyone!

It’s time for What’s Up Wednesday with Mel, Sheaffer, and Shay! It seems like forever since my last WUW and I think I have some new info to share!

What I’m eating this week…we have been making use of those slow cookers for Crocktober Fest! Lots of delicious soups and comfort food. Here’s a few recipes that we have made!

Loaded Hash brown Casserole

Beef Enchilada-Enchi-lentil Soup

Meatball Soup/Lentil Soup

Crock Pot Tacos 3 Ways

Tater Sausage Soup/Veggie Butternut Squash Bean Soup

What I’m reminiscing about… I’m reminiscing about the days when I had a lot more freedom. I haven’t shared a ton of public information about this but I decided to apply for a part time job at a restaurant and have already begun working. I have some graduate school loans that I want to finish paying off so this money will be going towards more principal loan payments.  I work full time and also manage this blog so life is going to become quite busy for me.

What I’m lovingI’m loving our new couches! We scored big on these reclining leather sofas through Facebook marketplace. I also purchased two big rugs!

What I’ve been up to…I’ve been training for my new part time job. So far, I have really enjoyed getting to learn about the culture of this restaurant. I failed to mention this is a brand new restaurant so everyone is learning at the same time!

What I’m dreading… Getting sick! I’m concerned more so about this since I’ll be working more. I’m doing what I can do stay healthy but it’s the sleep factor I’m concerned about.

What I’m working on… On the home front, we have been cutting and painting trim, base boards, and crown molding.

What I’m watching… Season three of Man in the High Castle recently premiered on Amazon Prime so I have been watching this show. I can’t do anything on the side during this show because I will miss something!

Laundry folding means time for Gilmore Girls.

Dinner with Shay means watching an episode of Parks and Rec.

Anddddd exercising in the mornings (running in my living room) means catching up on This Is Us. If I didn’t exercise while watching this show then I would be stuffing my face. This show is so emotionally charged at times!

What I’m reading… I posted part one of my Fall Book Review here. Part two is coming up once I read a few more books. Here’s what I’ve read as of lately:

Here is what I’m currently reading and have on my nightstand:

What I’m listening to… Naturally Christmas music has been on repeat. To help me relax in the afternoons at work, I’ve been listening to common church hymns, both acapella and instrumental.

What I’m wearing… Lots of leggings, tunics, and boots!!!

What I’m doing this weekend…Likely working!

What I’m looking forward to next month… I’m looking forward to Turkey Day next month. My mom also has her birthday next month!

Would love to hear how your October has been!

Happy Halloween!

  • I loved waitressing! That is smart to hit your loans hard now. You will be busy! Have you heard about VIP kids where you teach kid school in China through Skype? It’s legit and my colleague’s wife doesn’t it before school. Have a great day!

    • I have heard of VIP Kids and did consider it. This restaurant is five minutes from where I live and I worked at a similar place in college so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I’m definitely getting my steps in!

  • Happy Halloween Wednesday, Shannon! You are a busy person – good for you for tackling your $/debt.. Love your remodel pics; truly a labor of love. Do you allow the dogs on the sofas? I LOVE the pics of your food – I think my hubby would love a hybrid of your meatball and lentil soups! If you’re looking for another book to read, please check out Debbie Macomber’s book, The Cottage by the Sea… it’s a story of change/loss, friendship, love in a small town. Debbie is a wonderful writer… the forward in the book tells you how she was “inspired” to write it. I need to dig up my Christmas CDs…

    • Thanks Laurie!

Noooo dogs on the sofa!! They have tried once or twice but I keep their dog beds nearby so they know to lay there. I”ll add Debbie Macomber’s book to my list. My grandmother has probably read ever Debbie Macomber book there was!

  • I love What’s Up Wednesdays!!! All your crockpot meals look oh so yummy! OOhh I haven’t watched Man In The High Castle- but I’ll definitely need to check this out. I just met someone tonight that was in Parks and Rec!—(Henry Winkler!- minor character). Ugh, I loooove This is Us. ALL the feels! Oh and I love your outfits too- so cute!

    • It’s a good show but it’s very deep! It took me a few episodes to really get into it.

Awesome that you met a celeb!!!!
