HAPPY NOVEMBER FRIENDS!!
October came and went so quickly didn’t it?? Today, I’m linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea
for Friday Favorites!! I’ve got a little bit of this and a little bit of that for you! Mini book review, Halloween pictures, and a couple of product favorites all rolled into one!
An American Marriage right?? Wrong! Don’t let the title fool you 🙂 This book is about a couple torn apart as the husband has been sent to jail for alleged rape. I was expecting the book to focus on the trial and crime itself but instead it sheds light on the couple’s crumbling marriage. I won’t say much beyond this so I don’t accidentally give away the ending. It was a good read but the whole concept is quite depressing yet realistic as many relationships are put to the ultimate test if one of the partners happen to be incarcerated.
Long read but very detailed and informative. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German pastor during World War II and actively fought against Nazi ideologies. He was ultimately sent to a concentration camp and executed. The book discusses his entire life including how Dietrich entered the pastoral field and participating in anti-war efforts, including the Pastors Emergency League. This book really opened my eyes to the perversion of Christianity under the Nazi eye and how pastors were prevented from preaching and forcibly removed from the pulpit. If you are interested in World War II or religion in general, this is an excellent read. Bonhoeffer was a true Christian hero.
This was an interesting read and one of many “culinary mysteries” written by this author. The main character, Hannah is a baker who happens to assist in solving murders. At the same time, Hannah is a newlywed and you learn more about her relationship with her husband as the novel progresses. The plot was simple and it was easy for me to pinpoint the murderer but I enjoyed how the book contained several unique recipes throughout the book!
This was a cute read but at times I felt I would never be done with this book. That sounds awful but some of the characters really bugged me! The book focuses on a wife who recently finds out her soon to be ex-husband has been murdered (where they often vacation during holidays). On top of figuring out what happened to the husband, we also focus on the drama surrounding the wife’s teenage daughter, uncover secrets about the husband’s spending habits, and deal with the aftermath of this unexpected death. Let me know what you thought of this book!
I’m working on reading more books but it’ll be slow going 🙁
Next, I have some fun Halloween pictures to share! I worked on actual Halloween night so these pictures were taken the day before. The “kids” didn’t seem to know the difference LOL
Someone was VERY excited to get dressed up!
Shelbie could have cared less but at least she kept her skirt on.
I think this may be the last year for the Batman costumes. Stetson’s ripped as I was putting it on!
Lastly, I have three random products to share!
This nail polish is a gorgeous shade of purple! I found it at TJ Maxx for like 4 bucks and really enjoy how it looks.
Costco carries this salsa (in a much larger container of course) but it is so delicious!!! Shay and I have enjoyed snacking on it all week. It is so fresh and flavorful. The consistency is perfect.
I really craved some chili the other night and included this in my Walmart pick up! I ate the whole can in one sitting.
That’s all I have for you today! I hope you all had a great Halloween and are experiencing cooler temperatures in your area. I know we are in the DFW!!
Time for Christmas Everywhere,
