One Dish, Two Ways!

TBB ASKS: Giving Thanks Edition

Hi everyone!

I thought I would link up with The Blended Blog and complete my first TBB ASKS survey! I love how the questions are appropriate for each of the holidays and it’s a neat way to learn how others celebrate what that particular season/holiday has to offer!

SO HERE GOES!

Have you ever kept a gratitude journal? Well…yes and no. I text a daily gratitude to a friend each day. I had a list but I was unable to keep up with it.

Hosting Thanksgiving at your house? Definitely NOT especially with all of the renovations. My grandma is hosting this year!

Favorite Food from The Thanksgiving Meal? I am straight up a cornbread dressing gal. I also LOVE broccoli rice casserole! Both are vegetarian options and I have adapted them to be gluten-free as well.

What one thing in Nature are you most grateful for? Leaves changing color is one. I love watching the leaves slowly transform into shades of red, orange, and yellow. Cooler weather is also something I look forward to.

Pumpkin Pie? I enjoy making them for my husband but as for me, I prefer pumpkin based desserts like bars or cookies. Or straight up chocolate like my mom or a bite of sweet potato pie like my dad!

Traditional Cookbook? I use adaptations of my family’s recipes. If I’m trying out a new recipe, I may refer to a cookbook.

Oven Baked or Deep-Fried Turkey? I’m used to oven-baked but my in-laws will smoke their turkey! Very good!

Thanksgiving Leftovers? Yep! But I tend to freeze them and eat them in the days to come. I do this especially with cornbread dressing. Oftentimes, I’ll make enough dressing for myself at Thanksgiving and freeze it to use for Christmas.

What is one household product you are most grateful for? I’m going to cheat and name several. SOS pads, bleach, and Lysol!

Are you most grateful for home cooked meals or restaurant meals? There’s nothing quite like going home and having your mom cook for you. When I travel to Houston, I enjoy eating at several restaurants that aren’t available in the DFW.

This was so fun! I’m sure you’re thinking I’m an oddball with some of my answers. Can’t wait to read what others have to say!

Have an Attitude of Gratitude!

  • While I love having my Dad cook a nice meal when I’m at my parents’ house, there’s nothing better than going to some of my favorite restaurant’s from childhood. Thanksgiving leftovers are the best kind of leftovers in my opinion!

  • Mmm, thanksgiving food. I can feel my pants getting tight already… lol. We oven bake the turkey at our house and transport it to my parents who have the side dishes. Love turkey; yummy sandwiches, and we split the carcass w my parents. They make a Chinese rice porridge and flavor with the bones. We make chili.

Please share your cornbread dressing recipe. I love cornbread.

  • That’s so sweet you text a daily gratitude to your friend! I love that idea. Oo you can’t beat Thanksgiving at Grandma’s! That’s sooo smart to freeze thanksgiving leftovers. I’ll have to try that out this year! This was such a fun read 🙂
